Ashley Stone has been elected to an at-large position the Board of Directors of Heifer International, an international development organization whose mission is to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.

After working in the foster care system and international adoption programs for several years, Stone became both a mother and an active full-time community volunteer in the San Diego area. Her dedication, passion and leadership have inspired her family, friends and others to become more involved in making a positive impact in their communities and around the world.

Stone has a long history of volunteer service, having contributed 10+ years to Heifer International. As an area volunteer coordinator, Stone encouraged and practiced grassroots community development. Ashley has co-chaired several fundraising events for Heifer, is an active advocate for Heifer’s educational programs, and has represented Heifer at other business and education forums.

“My passion for Heifer has only increased through the experiences in which I have had the privilege of participating,” said Stone. “I’ve volunteered and traveled with Heifer to different countries on completely different missions, from a study tour in Zimbabwe, to exposing my daughter to Ecuadorian farms, to organizing a donor trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, to an intimate donor trip to Nepal. The richness of each of these experiences has left deep impressions. I am committed to do all I can to help Heifer expand its work to assist families and communities to lift themselves out of hunger and poverty.”

Stone has served on the Board of Directors for Jewish Family Service of San Diego and for the San Diego Jewish Academy. She received a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s degree in social work from San Diego State University. Stone also earned a License in Clinical Social Work.

Heifer International’s Board of Directors is comprised of 19 members of diverse backgrounds in the business, agriculture, academic, faith-based and private sectors.
