On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Heifer International will participate in #GivingTuesday™, a collaborative movement to create a national day of giving. Heifer is honored and extremely grateful that this year, Bill and Melinda Gates are highlighting our work to end world hunger through the #GivingTuesday site along with three other charities.
Heifer International has long considered the holiday season a time for giving back. Over the last 70 years, we have given more than 22.6 million families the gift of livestock and training to help lift themselves out of poverty. Each family then passes on the offspring of that animal they received, thereby transforming entire communities. It’s called Passing on the Gift®, and it’s the hallmark of our development model.
This season, rather than pouring money into new purchases that will languish in a closet, Americans can open their wallets on #GivingTuesday instead. When you give to Heifer on #GivingTuesday, you have the opportunity to give a gift that can have up to nine times the impact in ending hunger and poverty.
Our buying power has the potential to affect serious change in the world and alleviate the problems that are costing people their lives right now.
