The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed threatening gaps in our food system: industrial farming poses massive health risks to our public and does not benefit the farmer or workers along the supply chain.
Meanwhile, the average age of the American farmer is pushing 60 and small family farms are on the decline. Heifer USA supports rising farmers and local food processors to raise animals and produce in tune with nature while earning a fair wage.
Your donation goes toward immediate solutions that have impact not just during this time of crisis but for generations to come.

Since 2014, Heifer USA has supported 2,500+ families to build small-scale, sustainable produce and livestock business. For every pound of meat processed our farmers earn 75 cents to the dollar, vs. 14 cents earned to the dollar in industrial farms. We support farmer-owned businesses that sell products you can trace from farm to table.
As countless Americans have faced job losses during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have donated thousands of pounds of nutritious food to local food banks and offer employment to local food service workers.
Soil depletion from industrial farming threatens our ability to produce healthy foods long term. We practice and teach regenerative agriculture which helps the planet. This includes rotational grazing of animals on fresh pasture, no-till practices, no pesticides or spray used on the land.
We’ve provided a pipeline of regenerative farmers and helped Grass Roots Farmers’ Cooperative deliver thousands of customers high quality meats.
