Why is my donation to Heifer tax-deductible?

Heifer International is exempt from federal income tax under 26 U.S.C. Section 501(c)(3), and is a non-profit organization eligible to receive tax-deductible donations. Each donation to Heifer is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and represents a contribution to its entire mission — which is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth.

How do I claim the tax deduction?

Heifer issues tax receipts for gifts of $10 or more. If you donate on our website, you will receive your tax receipt in an email immediately after you complete your donation. If you mail your donation, we will mail your receipt to you at the address you provide with your donation. In accordance with IRS regulations we credit, as the actual donor, the entity listed on the check or on the credit card used in making the donation. We encourage you to visit with your tax professional for details on how to claim your tax deductions.
