We recently checked in with our Sociedad Flor De Copal beekeeping cooperative in Chiapas, Mexico. Thanks to you and Heifer, the 54 beekeepers in the cooperative — including Alex, Simón and Manuel — have become experts in raising bees and harvesting organic honey.
Thanks to your generosity, these farmers can now work together in their cooperative! That means they can share knowledge, pool resources and save on costs to produce an abundance of top-quality honey. Together, they are employing friends and neighbors, uplifting their entire community!
This small group of beekeepers currently sells their honey to local restaurants — and they’re hopeful that they can soon begin selling the honey under their own label — increasing their profits even more. Their dream? “To have a good income for our families and share the work that we have, because it gives employment to other people.”
