William Wegman Supports Heifer Through His Art

William Wegman, an artist and photographer best known for his work with Weimaraner dogs, in a joint charity effort with Swedish fashion brand Acne Studio, is selling 100 exclusive, numbered and signed limited edition prints to benefit Heifer International’s work to end hunger and poverty.

All proceeds from the sales of the limited edition prints of "Hat Dogs" will be donated to Heifer International, which artist and photographer William Wegman has supported for several years.

The exclusive print, “Hat Dogs,” is taken from “The William Wegman and Acne Studios Portfolio,” a special project Wegman shot in his New York studio in January 2013. The print is available exclusively at www.acnestudios.com/wegman starting at 2 p.m. May 31, 2013, which is timed to match the opening of Wegman’s exhibition, “Hello Nature,” in an art hall near Stockholm.

Wegman started photographing Weimaraners in the 1970s when his own pets kept getting in the way of his shots. Since then he has experimented using them as subjects, muses and creative collaborators. Their long lanky limbs, deadpan expression and elegant grey coats have made them icons inside and outside the art world.

There are 100 numbered prints available for $500 or equivalent in other currencies. The photographs are pigment print on 100-percent acid-free semi-gloss cotton rag, measuring 11.7 by 16.5 inches. All proceeds will be donated to Heifer International.
