Actor Uzo Aduba and eBay Team Up to Support Heifer for the Holidays

The holidays are right around the corner, and we invite you to join us in celebrating big this year. Heifer International is teaming up with award-winning actress Uzo Aduba and eBay to support women and girls around the world.

From December, eBay shoppers and sellers have a special opportunity to easily donate to Heifer International in a number of ways:

• Sellers posting items on eBay can choose to direct some or all of their sales proceeds to Heifer.
• eBay buyers will have an option to donate to Heifer at the PayPal checkout.
• eBay’s Gifts That Give Back will feature a number of Heifer women’s empowerment giving opportunities, including animals, education and entrepreneurship.
• A celebrity auction on eBay gives bidders the chance to win a Tea Time Zoom Video/Call Experience with Uzo Aduba – winner and four guests will get to have a virtual chat with Uzo via Zoom to learn about why she supports small-scale farmers around the world.

Best known for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black” and her Emmy-winning portrayal of Shirley Chisolm in FX on Hulu’s limited series, “Mrs. America,” Aduba is a longtime supporter of Heifer International and the organization’s first ambassador to Africa. Twice she has visited Heifer project participants in Uganda to see in person how much farmers can accomplish with just a bit of help.

“One thing I saw that is remarkable about Heifer is a lot of the people who sign up for it are women,” Aduba said. “They’re going to take care of their family and make sure it not only survives but thrives.”

She couldn’t be more on target. In its 75 years working with small-scale farmers, Heifer International has learned that women are reliably the powerhouses of their families. When women have control over their own assets and income, they reinvest in their families to provide better nutrition, education and health care.

So on this holiday season, let’s invest in women.
