Mary Renwick is dedicated to ensuring people living in poverty have access to the water they need to live healthier, more productive lives and sustain the environment. She has worked with governments, civil society, private sector and academia to find innovative solutions to address complex sustainability, poverty and resilience challenges in over 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

Mary currently works as an independent consultant. Previously, she served as Chief of Party for the USAID Water Communications and Knowledge Management program. Prior to that Mary led Winrock International’s Water Innovation Program, growing the program from its inception to an established portfolio with field-level programs in seven countries and more than 60 technical staff. Prior to Winrock, Mary was a Senior Fellow in water policy and economics and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota. She also served as a Fulbright Visiting Professor at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. Mary received a Ph.D. and M.S. in Applied Economics from Stanford University and has authored more than 25 professional books, peer-reviewed articles and papers.
