Bhagawati Parajuli’s Story
Bhagawati's family is a part of the Empowering Women Farmers in Nepal Phase II project where your goat went!
- After her husband died in an accident when she was just 19, Bhagawati was left to raise their daughter alone.
- After years grieving and trying to stay financially afloat, she joined a women’s savings group.
- Bhagawati’s family had raised goats before, but not in any organized way, and she knew little about it. The training changed everything. With the goats came the benefits — milk, fertilizer and hope!
- Now, Bhagawati is the main support for her family, and she uses her knowledge to better her family and community. And it’s all thanks to a gift like yours.
- Bhagawati expanded her goat herd from three goats to 30. The increased income from selling goats and fodder paid for the house’s second story and helped establish a new business: a banana plantation. After seeing success, she continued to expand and diversify her farm.
- Bhagawati’s determination quickly established her as a leader within the community.
