Kalpana Pariyar, 39, holds her goats

Thanks to You, They’ve Goat Success!

Thank you for gift of goats! I’m so excited to share with you the work we’ve been doing with Heifer’s Empowering Women Farmers project in Nepal, where women are building their goat farming business from the ground up. Here’s a little more on the impact you’re making on one project participant, Kalpana Pariyar.

Through our Empowering Women Farmers project, Kalpana Pariyar has a promising new path in life.

Rita Pariyar, 13, reads to her aunt Kalpana Pariyar, 39, from her school book as they sit together.

Kalpana’s family once struggled to live day-to-day. Her husband was mostly paid in grain for his tailoring services — it was all they had to eat. When there wasn’t any grain, they went hungry.

But when you came into her life, Kalpana received two goats, seeds and training on how to best care for her goats and raise bountiful crops.

She’s now a thriving goat farmer and grows nutritious vegetables for her family. The more she learned, the more her self-esteem increased.

With the money Kalpana earns, she can feed her children nutritious food and ensure they have a good education. Because of you, Kalpana now has much to be proud of. She’s able to pass on her expertise and experience to other women so they, too, can give their families a bright, hopeful future.
