Angura’s Story of Success, All Because Of You
Angura’s family is a part of the Strengthening Beef and Goat Market System project where your heifer went!
- Growing up in a small village in Bangladesh, Angura’s life was tinged with hardship. Her father got sick, leaving young Angura to plant and sell the crops. After marriage, she continued to work, but it was never enough.
- One day, the baby food ran out. Alone, scared and angry, she tried helplessly to ease her baby’s cries. It’s a day Angura will never forget — and one she never wants to repeat.
- Joining the project was the turning point for her family. Heifer taught Angura how to care for and make money on her farm with heifers.
- Angura learned how to grow healthy fodder and about the importance of vaccinations and medications. And with the heifer came the benefits — milk, fertilizer and hope!
- The lessons Angura learned extend far beyond the herd. Now, she uses her knowledge to better her farm and community. And it’s all thanks to a gift like yours.
- Today, Angura and her husband Mohammad gladly share what they have with others.

OUR GOAL In Bangladesh, a family of five needs an annual income of about $3,440 USD for basic needs — but the average income is only about $2,684 USD. Our goal is to help families reduce this gap.
Our work with women-led community self-help groups strengthens networks and information sharing within communities, and links farmers to local markets. In addition to training designed to support local women farmers, Heifer promotes gender equity education to further expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
