Your Cows Made This Possible
We recently checked in with Janet Wavinya Kilungu, a Food for All project participant in Kenya. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to teach Janet the best ways to care for and breed her cows, which has significantly increased the amount of milk she can use to make cheese, yogurt and other dairy products — enough to feed her children and sell for income.

Janet once lived day to day, never knowing when she could feed her children next. But she has grown into a successful dairy farmer who can afford nutritious food and school fees for her young children. By being part of a dairy cooperative — where she and other dairy farmers benefit from collective pricing and cost-sharing — Janet can sell her milk at a better price. That means more money to take care of her family and ensure that her children have futures full of hope and promise.
What’s more — Janet is passing on her knowledge to others in her community so they, too, can thrive. “She has changed a lot since Heifer came,” her husband says. “She has used techniques Heifer taught her to mobilize women and teach the other women how to improve their living by keeping cows.”
