Meet Edwin Phiri from Zimbabwe

Name: Edwin Phiri

Title:  Proposal Development Manager

Location: Zimbabwe, Southern Africa


When did you start working for Heifer?
I started working for Heifer in March, 2014.


What attracted you to work for Heifer?
Heifer’s work toward eradicating poverty and hunger through sustainable, value-based, holistic community development was the major attraction for me. This, together with the fact that Heifer is working in the agricultural development sector, reading out and transforming the lives of poor, vulnerable communities, was the major attraction.

What has been the most memorable experience you have had while working for Heifer?
My most memorable experience so far has been designing the Southern Africa Goat Value Chain Program while working in collaboration with the team.


My education includes:
 A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Project Planning and Management. I am currently studying toward a Master’s Degree in Development Studies. I also have experience in Project Proposal Writing.

  
My hobbies include: I participate in volunteer work in the areas of youth unemployment. I also like to watch soccer.


My family consists of: My wife Chipo and my daughter Tinotenda.


Something about me that you might not know: I love music and I am a good singer. I used to sing in the school and church choirs. I enjoy development work and have a passion for it, having worked in the development sector my entire life.

  
What is the best thing about working at Heifer (insert location)?
Seeing the impact of the work we do at community level and how this helps transform poor communities, helping them to overcome poverty and hunger.
