Power Over Poverty is a Human Right

Today is Blog Action Day, a day in which thousands upon thousands of bloggers all write about the same topic. This year's topic is Human Rights.

Have you ever read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? They're your rights, too. And your mom's. And your neighbor's. And all of the other humans inhabiting the planet.

Hunger and poverty are human rights violations. We at Heifer International are working hard every single day to put an end to global hunger and poverty. Because no one should have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Families should be free from the misery of not being able to feed their children.

Our work gives small farmers around the world the tools and training they need to make their own hunger and poverty a thing of the past. We've been doing it for nearly 70 years, and we know it works.

If you're a blogger, and you're not already writing about Human Rights today, there's still time to join in. How are you working to ensure the protection of human rights for all?
