Heifer China participated in the Lan Kwai Fong Carnival Chengdu, from August 31-September 1, 2012. One of the three non-governmental organizations (NGOs) invited to participate in the carnival, Heifer China had a booth in the NGO exhibition zone with fun activities and information on Heifer’s work.

The Lan Kwai Fong Carnival is a large street party traditionally held annually at Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong. For the second year in a row, the carnival was also held in Chengdu.

Several volunteers from Sichuan University and others organized a wealth of interactive activities, including puzzles, and black-and-white calf painting. The most popular activity, Winning Badges via Painting Animals, was one the whole family could enjoy. While the children were busy drawing a variety of cartoon animals, parents learned about Heifer China and its projects. The debut of the Heifer mascot was a hit – everyone wanted to take photos with her.

There were frequent interactions among Heifer's official micro-blog and the micro-blogs of Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu, Save the Children and Mercy Corps China. With this online and offline promotion, about 1,000 people visited our booth in three days. Chengdu TV also reported this event.
