Intro: Post-Harvest Milk Technology for Milk Supply Chains
EADD's Jane Maindi talks about new innovations to help build the milk supply chain for farmers in east Africa.
EADD Program Manager Jane Maindi visited Heifer International's Little Rock, Ark., campus in June 2013 to share about an innovation created by Intellectual Ventures that helps farmers reduce post-harvest milk loss and contamination. This video provides an introduction and overview of the project.
In this first part, Maindi discusses challenges farmers have in bringing milk to market. Kenya specifically has problems with mud and rains in March which cause transportation problems result in rejected milk from the processors. As a result, Heifer looked at innovations to improve the capture and transportation of milk to help build better efficiency in milk supply chains.
