Artisan Knitters Open for Business in Peru

These artisan knitters have opened their own store in Cuzco, Peru, with help from Heifer International. In an effort to empower women in rural communities, Heifer has been working for 2 years with 190 women artisans to leverage their knitting skills into a viable business. Now they are improving their standard of living by working together and running the Tres Alpaquitas ("Three Alpacas") store. They produce and sell blankets, gloves, hats, bags and more made from 100% alpaca fiber harvested from the alpacas their families raise themselves.
