END THE CURSE. END POVERTY.
Make a Goat a Hero for Those in Need
Showing fondness toward goats is mentioned as a key to breaking one of the longest running curses in baseball. There's no better way to do this than donating a goat and its nutrient-rich milk to a family in need. Heifer has been working around the world since 1944 - the year before the curse of the goat began - transforming a series of communities from poverty to self-reliance.
Goats Help Families Feed Themselves
On small farms, goats are often the key to a family's survival. Along with training and education in its care, your goat donation:
- Provides a family with milk and butter for nourishment
- Boosts income through the sale of extra milk and wool
- Encourages better crop yields by creating fertilizer and clearing land
Goat milk can also be used to create cheese, and the income from that helps pay for a family’s children to attend school. Goat milk is more easily digestible, and one animal can produce up to four gallons a day. Goats are ideal for zero grazing, which means very little land is needed to raise them. Their natural curiosity and intelligence also make them great pets for families with children.
