Support Local Farmers

Our projects in Arkansas have continued to succeed thanks to the generosity of donors like you:

  • In 2016, average revenue per farmer increased by 7 percent for New South Produce Cooperative and 25 percent for Grass Roots Farmers' Cooperative.
  • New South provides produce to 450 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shareholders. To date, Grass Roots Farmers' Cooperative has served 950 direct-to-consumer customers; and now has shipping to all 48 continental states.
  • Thirty-two full-time, off-farm jobs were created between Grass Roots and New South.
  • To date, Heifer USA cooperatives have supported family farms in Arkansas by purchasing more than $2.3 million in goods.

In addition, 22 percent of Heifer USA's cooperative farmers are women, compared to only 12 percent of farmers in Arkansas. And about 19 percent of cooperative farmers represent diverse ethnicities, compared to 4 percent of farmers statewide.
