Amazon’s Jeff Bezos urged to support Heifer International

Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-used evaluator of charities, is advising Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to donate some of his fortune to Heifer International.

The Little Rock-based Heifer was one of six organizations on the list Charity Navigator created for Bezos, who last month asked his Twitter followers for ideas about how to share his growing net worth. Bezos is the world’s third-richest man.

In a piece posted on Buzzfeed, Charity Navigator said: “Heifer International is an organization focused on ending world hunger by empowering impoverished people and providing them with sustainable solutions to hunger. Rather than providing a single meal for a hungry family, Heifer provides its beneficiaries with sustainable agriculture that will benefit them by providing both food and a reliable income. Heifer International has a three-star rating from Charity Navigator.”
