LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Heifer International today announced that Monique Wherry, regional director, major gifts Southern Field Operations at the United Negro College Fund, has been named the global hunger and poverty organization’s senior major gifts officer for its Southern Zone.
Wherry, who directed UNCF’s major gifts campaign in eight field offices throughout the Southeastern United States, will be doing similar work to raise funds for Heifer’s mission to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.
“I am delighted to have Monique join Heifer International,” said Steve Stirling, executive vice president, Marketing and Resource Development. “Her skills will help existing and future donors better understand the mission and the impact of Heifer’s life-changing work around the world, while her record with UNCF and other cause organizations brings important talent to our work.”
Prior to her joining UNCF, Wherry worked as director of development, major gifts, and as director for development, founders and presidents council for CARE in Atlanta. She also directed annual giving for Morehouse School of Medicine and for Spelman College, both in Atlanta.
Wherry received her master’s of arts in social science from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, Ark., and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
