Heifer Village Programs

Exhibit Experience
When you enter Heifer Village, you are surrounded by a rich and stimulating mix of galleries, hands-on exhibits, videos and activities that focus on the issues surrounding hunger and poverty. Groups of 10 or more must schedule a time to visit the exhibits. Our educators will greet your group, briefly explain each of the exhibits and then your members may take a self-guided tour of the exhibits to explore and pursue the topics that most interest them. Length: approximately 10 minutes plus self-guided exhibit time.

Green Building Tour
What makes a building "green?" How can new technologies create a building that uses half the energy of another building of the same size? Heifer International transformed a former industrial waste site into a thriving wetlands habitat, which is both beautiful and functional. This tour highlights how Heifer International's headquarters building has achieved LEED platinum certification (the highest "Green Building" rating possible), and how the reconstructed wetland is intertwined in our efforts for an environmentally-conscious world. Length: approximately 30 minutes.

Heifer International's unique educational opportunities are crafted around National and Arkansas state academic standards. Programs will provoke critical thinking and cooperative learning skills through engaging, interactive and inquiry-based topics. Discover Heifer

All Ages
Program Length: Approximately 1 hour
Students discover the work of Heifer through a short video followed by a guided exploration of our exhibits and a challenging exhibit hunt for hands-on interaction.

We Are Connected! Exploring Food Systems
Grades K and UP
Program Length: Approximately 1.5 hours
You will be amazed what your favorite chocolate can teach you! Trace the steps involved in bringing foods to our table, and learn how we are connected to our food source.
