Although Brazil is by far the most expansive country in South America, the majority of its rich farmland is owned by a few corporations, and its agribusiness is similarly controlled by a few leading exporters. Consequently, small-scale farmers suffer from loss of valuable cropland and social exclusion, as large corporations dominate the economy. Heifer works to empower these farmers and their rural communities to reclaim their land and implement sustainable agricultural techniques.
