There is grinding poverty in the Chiredzi District of Zimbabwe, and the women have been left to look after families in very trying and difficult circumstances, while the men migrate to other countries for work. Involvement in a Heifer livestock project has empowered many women, who are spreading their newfound animal health skills and knowledge and improving their own livelihoods.

Animal Marketing in Zaka Increases Profits

The Zaka district is now able to organize the marketing of goats, cattle and poultry on their own after working with Heifer Zimbabwe. Their business success has already benefited co-op group members and the surrounding communities..
