Gui Xi Village Holds First Passing on the Gift® Ceremonies

Shanghai School Begins Third Read to Feed Program to Benefit Heifer International

On February 22, an opening ceremony of the Read to Feed program was held at YK Pao Primary School in Shanghai for the third year. As Heifer China participates in the Aid Project in Xinjiang, held by the Shanghai government, this year’s program donation will be go directly to Yarkant County in Kashgar, Xinjiang, and purchase Simmental cattle and Dolan sheep.

Lamb Judging Competition in Project Village

More than 100 farmers participated in a Lamb Judging Competition held January 12, 2013, in Tokay Village, China. Eighty families received 395 quality ewes after the project officially launched in December 2011. By the end of 2012, 326 lambs were born; these lambs were the “contestants” of this Lamb Judging Competition.

Danone Representatives Visit Heifer China

Zhang Ping, director of Dumex Baby Food Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Danone Baby Nutrition, and four others visited the Heifer China office on December 3, 2012. They attended a steering committee meeting and visited another Heifer project to learn its best practices and meet project participants.

Training Teaches Villagers Livestock Technology

To increase incomes and build community harmony, 60 project participants attended a four-day training on livestock technology held by Heifer China.
