Ukraine Women Participate in Study Tours

Between October 2012 and February 2013, women leaders from all corners of Ukraine participated in study tours funded by Heifer Ukraine and the Women's Information Consultative Center. The trainings aimed to solve problems such as high unemployment, domestic violence and lack of medical care.

Marfusha Cooperative Starts Small But Grows to Improve Lives

The co-op’s first steps were far from easy. Many did not believed in the co-op’s potential, so it started with just three milk producers. The initial volumes were pretty low at just 130 gallons of milk per day. Thanks to the community’s confidence, honesty and good attitude, and the support of Heifer Ukraine and Danone, the cooperative has increased the amount of collected milk day by day. At the same time, dozens of rural families were improving their well-being.

Heifer Ukraine Shares Update on Danone Projects During Exchange Visit

Colleagues from Heifer Georgia and Heifer Poland visited Heifer Ukraine’s office in Kyiv. The Ukrainian team warmly greeted the guests and shared information on the implementation of some of our larger and more complex projects. A short presentation was made on the Strawberry Communities/Ecofruit Project, which is funded by Danone Ecosystem Fund, Dansource and Heifer International. The presentation included detailed information on the project price model and technology used in planting and irrigating strawberries.
