Students at the QSI International School of Chengdu in China showed great enthusiasm for reading to raise money for rural, poverty-stricken people through Heifer’s Read to Feed program. 
Smallholder farmers David Ntombela and his wife, Samkellsiwe, of South Africa are working to pass on the passion they now have for farming to their daughter.
Mzwandile Yeko and his family have benefited greatly from Heifer’s Ikhwezi Langomso Project in South Africa. His family is better nourished, and he has become a successful, independent smallholder farmer. 
Representatives of project partner Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (GMCR) and Heifer International made a field visit to the community of Villa Linda, Unión Cantinil, Guatemala. They visited a group of women involved in a Heifer project, and included a presentation some of the women followed by a series of questions and answers. Afterwards, the visitors went on a tour of five households that were putting their Heifer training into practice.

In Senegalese society, solidarity is valued. It is a key element in communities and is stronger in rural areas than in the city. Relationships are energetic, and they support social stability and sustainability.
Heifer International and Elanco took their relationship to new heights. Elanco employees decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Heifer International. Kelly MacNeil of Heifer International documented the climb. Watch the video and hear about the trip.
The 3rd of November, 2012, will be remembered as a remarkable day in Heifer International’s calendar: it was the 10th anniversary of the first YES! Youth Club established by Heifer Armenia. Back in 2002 the first rural youth club, was founded by Heifer Armenia. This was a new type of investment in Heifer history−a totally different component in the traditional Heifer model of providing cows to needy rural families. The establishment of the club intended to empower rural youth and change the social lives of their community. The club would provide extracurricular education on agriculture, healthy lifestyle and civic education, called directions by the club.
During a recent Passing on the Gift® ceremony, 23 original project participants passed the gift of cash to another 23 families in Bo Fo Village, China, on Oct. 26, 2012.
