Heifer Guatemala Project Families and Staff Safe After Earthquake

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Nov. 8, 2012) - Heifer Guatemala staff is assessing damage and needs for assistance among its project partners and participants there after the massive earthquake Wednesday. Currently, all Heifer International employees are safe and no staff or project participants were reported injured.

Sandy Causes Livestock Deaths, Crop Damage in Haiti Projects

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 29, 2012) - Hundreds of animals and thousands of dollars in crops are among the losses suffered by Heifer International project participants in Haiti after Tropical Storm Sandy passed near the island nation late last week. The storm, which is now a Category 1 hurricane slamming into the East Coast of the United States, has caused 51 deaths in Haiti, mainly due to flooding after heavy rains.

Heifer’s Haiti Office Remains Closed After Tropical Storm

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 26, 2012) – Heifer International’s Haiti country office remains closed on Friday as the country recovers from the rains and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Sandy. Country Director Hervil Cherubin reports that the situation near Heifer’s office in Les Cayes remains fragile, and rain continues.

Tropical Storm Sandy Closes Heifer Haiti Office

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 25, 2012) – Heifer International's Haiti country office remains closed today after Tropical Storm Sandy passed near the island country, dumping several inches of rain. The storm, which has been upgraded to a Category 2 hurricane, is expected to produce a total of 6 to 12 inches of rain across Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

State Department’s “Experience America” Visits Heifer Village

Oglethorpe University, Heifer International Host Sustainability Summit

ATLANTA, Ga. (Oct 8, 2012) – Heifer International and Oglethorpe University are hosting the first ever Heifer Sustainability Summit on Oct 13, from 1-5 p.m in Lupton Hall Auditorium. The one-day summit will look at the issues surrounding hunger and poverty globally and discuss how Heifer works with smallholder farmers, teaching them agriculture and animal husbandry practices that lead to self-reliance.
