From Bees to Honey: October 4-8, 2009
Learn what it takes to raise bees by helping with our fall honey harvest. Remove honey boxes from the hives and extract the honey. Inspect and prepare the hives for winter. Prepare honey for selling - bottle the honey, seal the bottles in melted beeswax and label for sale. Levels of physical activity include some levels of lifting and moderate amounts of walking. The $340 per person tuition fee includes all programming, lodging and meals.
Livestock Health Care: October 4-8, 2009
Learn about the routine care of livestock, such as cattle and sheep, while you help us complete our fall livestock health checks. Weigh livestock, trim hooves, paint brand and ear-tattoo sheep, pregnancy check cattle and evaluate body condition and general animal health. Perform daily livestock chores and other duties such as moving and setting up temporary fences. Levels of physical activity include high levels of lifting and high amounts of walking. The $340 per person tuition fee includes all programming, lodging and meals.
