Global Explorers at Heifer Ranch
Two Day / Two Night Program; 5th-6th Graders

Want your students to learn how their choices affect people and places thousands of miles away?

Global Explorers is designed to help teachers provide students with experientially-based education activities to complement their social studies, language arts, geography and mathematics lesson plans. The program investigates the impact of personal choices, environmental issues that affect world hunger and Heifer’s work around the globe.

Once participants learn the causes of hunger and poverty, Global Explorers experience the obstacles the poor face every day. By using maps, previous learning and group cooperation skills, participants are able to obtain their basic items needed to prepare a meager meal. Explorers complete their program with a night hike reflecting in silence and quiet conversations on the connections of their experience and how they can influence the world by their actions.
