Exhibits at Heifer Village in downtown Little Rock

Heifer Village, in downtown Little Rock, isn’t a museum or a classroom. It’s a combination of environments, heifer village interactive exhibitsinterpretive exhibits and hands-on experiences “designed to inspire – a profoundly moving learning encounter that will awaken visitors to their potential to bring about real change.”

The Heifer Story
The Heifer Story guides visitors through Heifer’s 65 years of work, allowing them to better understand the organization’s role in alleviating world hunger, our methods and our global impact.

Life size images of our project partners tell their stories of success, and a world map illustrates where Heifer works around the world. Video, photography and audio let the visitor explore our past, present and future. Visitors also have the opportunity to learn about Heifer’s model of sustainable development through our Cornerstones and an explanation of the lifecycle of our projects.

Global Solutions Gallery
The Global Solutions Gallery presents a holistic view of the issues integral to chronic hunger and poverty, and shows real solutions at work around the world.

Making a Difference Lab
After experiencing the root causes of hunger and poverty as well as some real solutions, visitors learn about individual actions they can take in their own communities, resources they can utilize to learn more about specific topics and groups they can join that are already engaged. Computer kiosks and exhibit panels help visitors find practical solutions that they can tackle in their daily lives.

The Artwork of Betty LaDuke
Betty LaDuke’s life was dramatically affected by her first Heifer International Study Tour to Uganda and Rwanda in 2003. On that and her many subsequent trips, this widely celebrated artist has captured the hopes, beauty and dignity of the people Heifer helps. More than ten million families have been transformed by the gifts of livestock and training provided by Heifer. Lives that were once ruled by hunger, poverty and desperation are now eased by the ample nutrition, income and resulting human dignity provided by the Heifer development model.

The fruit of Betty LaDuke's labor is a 100-foot mural sequence titled “Dreaming Cows,” now hanging in Heifer Village. Through the brilliantly colored images of Betty LaDuke, viewers are transported on a journey from the Bronx to Bolivia, and from Vietnam to Kosovo.
