“GET IT!®: Global Education To Improve Tomorrow” is a curriculum-based global education and service-learning program designed for 6th-8th graders that teaches students and teachers about sustainable solutions to world hunger and poverty.
The GET IT!® lesson plans, along with the Student Reporter's Notebook, engages middle school students as investigative journalists to research, write about and act on issues surrounding consumer choices and international trade. Students learn how to ask questions, think critically and communicate what they learn. By writing and circulating stories based on their research, students get hands-on experience in spreading awareness about consumer issues. Alumni are prepared to be proactive global citizens. The lesson plans go hand in hand with Chores for Change, a service-learning program that teaches students about hunger and what they can do to make a difference in their own communities, as well as around the world. You may order a hard copy of the GET IT! materials (complete with GET IT! lesson plans, Student Reporter's Notebook and Chores for Change) online, or by calling (800) 422-0474.
