Disaster Rehabilitation
In China, Tanzania, Kosovo, Peru and countless other areas, natural and man-made disasters have left millions displaced, impoverished and malnourished. Heifer’s Disaster Rehabilitation Projects provide international aid to help these families recover and help prepare them against future natural disasters through sustainable development.
The May 12, 2008 devastating earthquake in China's Sichuan province killed thousands and left millions homeless. Heifer recipients in the area area suffering as well.
Heifer’s initial earthquake relief effort has already helped many of these families successfully start the recovery process. But sustainable, long-term solutions are now needed on an unprecedented scale.
Since beginning work in China in 1984, Heifer has successfully implemented nine disaster rehabilitation projects that have served more than 10,000 struggling families with dramatic results. Helping families recover from this earthquake disaster will be Heifer’s greatest challenge yet.
Help rebuild lives in China by supporting the China's Earthquake Rebuilding Project.
