What is GET IT! ?
GET IT!®: Global Education To Improve Tomorrow is a curriculum-based global education and service learning program that teaches students and teachers about sustainable solutions to world hunger and poverty. .

The GET IT! curriculum engages students as investigative journalists to research, write about, and act on issues surrounding consumer choices and international trade. Students learn how to ask questions, think critically, and communicate what they learn. By writing and circulating stories based on their research, students get hands-on experience in spreading awareness about consumer issues. GET IT! alumni are prepared to be proactive global citizens
The program goes hand-in-hand with Chores for Change, another of Heifer International's educational outreach programs. Chores for Change is a service-learning program that teaches students about hunger and encourages them to help fight it.
Offered through Heifer's community education outreach, GET IT! is designed for middle school and high school students.
The GET IT! curriculum provides teachers with a standards-based academic unit that can be integrated - in whole or in part -- into their annual middle school lesson plans. Teachers can use the GET IT! curriculum to teach students about their roles as consumers and the effects their choices have in the global marketplace. This unit emphasizes reading comprehension, writing for a particular audience, high-level thinking, and research strategies.
The GET IT! curriculum is designed to be flexible, so that teachers can easily incorporate these consumer education lesson plans into any curriculum.
