James Howell
Jim is a Heifer International Foundation representative to the Heifer International Board.
He served from 1959-1969 in the US Army as a supply and service officer. His service took him to Europe, mainland U.S., Hawaii, Thailand and Viet Nam. His positions included Unit command and unit and army level staff position.
After his military service, Jim joined the sales team of IBM Corporation. His role was customer service and assisting with major military, commercial and government customers. In addition, he coordinated installation of hardware and software for customers in Hawaii, Guam, and the Far East. Jim retired from IBM in 1992.
Following retirement, he worked in various positions with the State of Hawaii Judiciary System where he was responsible for the maintenance of accounts for a $27 million dollar budget. Jim retired as Court Officer with the State of Hawaii Judiciary System in December 2004.
Jim is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. He is also a graduate of Dale Carnegie's Public Speaking and Human Relations Course and H & R Block's Income Tax Preparation.
Jim is a member of Church of the Crossroads where he served as Moderator, Treasurer, and Stewardship Chairperson. He has served as Vice Chair of the Board for Hawaii's Meals on Wheels and served as President of the Harambee Connection Investment Club.
He has been part of the Heifer family since 2001. Jim assists Skip Polson with many speaking engagements to promote the work of Heifer. He is an active volunteer and has been on a Tanzania Study Tour with Heifer.
