Women’s Lambing at Heifer Ranch

During the spring lambing season, women from across the country visit Heifer Ranch to watch a lamb take its first steps and reflect on the new beginnings that Heifer brings to millions of families. The activities throughout the program help participants understand and appreciate the lives of those helped by Heifer.
Guests will stay on Heifer Ranch in a climate-controlled lodge with two people to a room. Each room includes towels, bed linens and a private bathroom. Meals are served cafeteria-style in the dining hall.
Activities include:
• A brief introduction to gestation, birth, and post-lambing care of ewes and lambs
• Birthing checks
• Cheese-making and/or wool crafts
• Sessions on gender equity, sustainable agriculture and Heifer’s livestock practices
• Daily and seasonal farm chores, such as caring for the animals and gardens
During their time on the Heifer Ranch, participants should be prepared for up to two miles of walking on a full day’s program.
