Youth Programs for Individuals at Heifer Ranch
Each year Heifer Ranch offers several opportunities for individuals and small groups to participate in educational programming.
All the programs at Heifer Ranch listed below are for youth, 12 years and older, plus their required adult chaperone. Each adult can bring up to five youth.
Global Gateway
Program Dates: May 8-9, 2010
Tuition Fee: $43 per person
For one night, Global Gateway participants experience the daily struggles people in poverty face everyday to feed their family a meager meal. Participants are given little to eat – just some rice, vegetables and eggs – and must find a way to build a fire and cook their meal. The challenge continues on into the night as they sleep in simple housing, such as a Zambian hut.
By living the lessons of poverty first-hand, participants come to understand the complications surrounding hunger and poverty and see their connection in creating change that brings possibility and hope to millions around the world.
Global Challenge
Program Dates: June 18-21, 2010
Tuition Fee: $155 per person (includes all programming, shared lodging and meals)
Global Challenge combines the Global Gateway experience with team-building activites. Participants spend one night in the Heifer Global Village and two nights in the Heifer Hilton, an open-air bunkbarn.
