'Oprah Winfrey Show' Features Heifer International's Tererai Trent

Heifer’s history is full of hope … and dreams come true.

In 1944, while Dan West portioned out powdered milk to victims of the Spanish Civil War, he dreamed of giving families lasting nutrition—“not a cup, but a cow.” That dream became Heifer International.

Heifer CEO Jo Luck visited Zimbabwe in 1986 and told a group of women their dreams were achievable. One of the women, Tererai Trent, wrote down her dream of earning a Ph.D.
