From Literacy Facilitator to Schoolteacher

As the result of a Heifer project in Cambodia, and Values-Based Literacy, 21-year-old Sal Ranny becomes a Literacy Facilitator and realizes her dream of being a primary school teacher.

Heifer Georgia Celebrates Project Openings

Heifer Georgia held opening ceremonies for two facilities in two separate projects. The Subtropical Fruit Collection Center in Batumi, West Georgia, was celebrated December 10, 2012, and the Information and Agri-Distributional Center in Tbilisi on December 11.

Ukraine Co-op Dairy Plant Holds First Study Tour

Visitors traveled to the cooperative milk processing plant Molochnyi krai in Panka village in Ukraine for a study tour on November 28, 2012. Representatives of Heifer Ukraine, project leaders from Odesa and Kirovohrad oblasts (who also plan to launch similar enterprises), technologists, a designer and a state administration representative visited the site.

Values-Based Literacy Management Training Builds Self-Confidence

Two years after starting the Values-Based Literacy (VBL) program in Heifer Cambodia projects, the training team has taken lessons learned and obstacles faced to prepare a training course on VBL management. This three-day training course, designed for new Literacy Facilitators (LFs) and Community Facilitators (CFs), took place for the first time December 4-6, 2012, at the Heifer office in Phnom Penh.
