Irina Dallaqyan, a 37-year-old widow, lives in Spitak, Lori region of Armenia with her three sons. After an earthquake destroyed the family's home, Irina joined a Heifer Armenia project and began raising pigs.
At the foot of a snowy mountain in Tibet sits Dan Nu Village, a semi-farming, semi-pasturing community where people make their living farming and raising livestock. Participants from the villages of Xue Ba, Zhi Ba and Da Nu gathered here for a Passing on the Gift ® (POG) ceremony and to celebrate their success.
On April 23-28, 2013, Heifer Cambodia staff attended Heifer International’s 12 Cornerstones for Just and Sustainable Development Training with representatives from eight other countries in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.
Since 2006, the demand for pig products has continued to grow worldwide. Heifer South Africa continues to help small-scale farmers enjoy the benefits of the growing pork market.
Heifer Zambia's pilot Read to Feed program has raised $1,000 and enabled student participation in Heifer International's mission of ending hunger and poverty and caring for the Earth.
