Cambodian Women's Empowerment Project Launches with Support from European Union

A joint project proposal from Heifer Cambodia and Gender and Development for Cambodia was awarded about $1,441,720 by the European Union to implement the project, Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights and Socio-Economic Empowerment, which aims to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment to participate in sustainable socio-economic development in Cambodia.

Couple Works Hard for Children’s Futures

Trinh Thi Phuong Dung and her husband, Heifer Vietnam project participants, work hard so their children can go to college. Their two daughters, 28 and 22, both graduated from the university with degrees in accounting, and their son, 18, is due to begin his studies in February at the College of Politics in Bac Lieu.

Heifer South Africa Working With Researchers To Understand Rural Economic Networks

Heifer South Africa represented Heifer International at a workshop that introduced new research that will explore how economic networks function in rural communities in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Such a deep understanding of the broader rural economic context will make it possible to determine how and where interventions like Heifer’s could have the greatest impact.

On February 25-27, Heifer Armenia organized the second annual Youth Business Forum with members of the YES! Youth Clubs established and supported by Heifer International. Attendees received business education, developed business plans and participated in a competition for seed money awards.

Successes Seen After One Year of Innovative Project in Armenia

The CARMAC project, launched in 2011, is showing positive results after just a year of implementation. They are well on their way to reaching the project goals of improving existing pasture management practices, bettering the pasture infrastructure, strengthening the agricultural advisory services, creating agricultural cooperatives and providing necessary agricultural equipment, training and practical skills.
