From the Field

Heifer Peru's Communications and Research Assistant Jessica Ford shares her experience visiting a workshop in Cusco where eight local women's groups learned how to use spinning machines which they will use to increase their incomes, a great example of Heifer at work on the Theory of Change.
In 2008, Heifer International launched its project in Armavir in partnership with the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF), in which 115 original families received cows and sheep, and 60 more received animals from their neighbors through Passing on the Gift® (POG). Later this year another POG ceremony will incorporate more people into Heifer Armenia's project in Armavir.
Through Heifer South Africa’s Sukuma Poultry Project, Ntombizethu Mhlakwana, 48, is using the resources available in her local community, including those resources provided by government, to improve her own life and that of her family.
Magda Hovahnnisyan, a Heifer participant from a small Armenian village, is a well-respected and loved veterinarian who helps even in retirement.
When the La Prosperidad cooperative passed on the gift of guinea pigs in Peru's Chirinos District, 520 families gathered to be a part of the special day. The ceremony featured music, dancing and happy families who were excited to share gifts of food and income security.
