Heifer Project Helps Enlighten a Once-Illiterate Woman

Heifer Vietnam project participant who was too poor to go to school received a heifer in 2010, and is seeing improvements in her family's living conditions and uses the work of Heifer to reach out to the rest of her community.

Passing on the Gift® Has Ripple Effect

A Cornerstones Workshop designed for the 4-H Club coordinators in five provinces in the Cagayan Valley Region, Philippines. During the workshop, participants realized they are actually Passing on the Gift®−a Heifer Cornerstone−of their commitment to help in pushing 4-H youth in the right direction.

Training Creates Understanding in Partnership

Heifer Cambodia conducted a five-day training on Values-Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD) for the staff of the Gender and Development for Cambodia (GADC) and for a new provincial project coordinator and community facilitators under a brand new three-year grant contract project between Heifer Cambodia and GADC.

Heifer Uganda Receives 2013 National Anti-Poverty Award

On March 22, 2013, Heifer Uganda received the Best Anti-Poverty Organization Award for Uganda's Golden Jubilee, competing against other nominees including ActionAID, OXFAM International and World Vision. Several assessments were undertaken by independent teams nationwide to determine the international NGO with the best sustainable approaches toward poverty eradication.

Heifer Staff Attend Sustainable Pig Farming Courses

Six Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs) and three program officers of Heifer Philippines attended courses on Sustainable Pig Farming and On-Farm Production of Beneficial Micro-organisms, including practical class and field trips to organic farms.
