LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 25, 2012) – An expert on Nepal comes to Little Rock on Thursday at a brown bag lunch discussion on the campus of Heifer International. Dr. Shubh Mahato, country director of Heifer Nepal, will discuss a large new goat and dairy project aimed at lessening hunger and poverty in the mountainous country. Arkansans curious about Nepal or about Heifer International’s work are encouraged to attend.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 17, 2012) – Jay A. Wittmeyer, Executive Director for Global Mission and Service for the Church of the Brethren, has been appointed as the Church’s representative to the Board of Directors of Heifer International.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 10, 2012) – When you were young, your mom told you that you could be anything you wanted to be, and that you could change the world. What better way to thank your mother for what she’s done for you and show her that you care than by changing the world one mother at a time?

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 7, 2012) – A new shareable infographic from Heifer Internationalshows that in 2010, Americans spent $13.6 billion on Mother’s Day. $1.9 billion of that was spent on perishable flowers. But mothers don’t necessarily want extra “stuff” on this day – they want a present with meaning. With a Heifer International gift, you can provide joy – to your mother, and to a family in need.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 2, 2012) – Heifer International participant families know a lot about chores as they must care for their livestock and crops. Now, thanks to MyJobChart.com, U.S.-based kids can have their chores benefit Heifer International families as well.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 25, 2012) – Heifer Ranch in Perryville, a Heifer International learning center, is intact and thriving as it marks the one-year anniversary of the tornado that struck on a stormy day in 2011.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 23, 2012) – Your mother comforted you after every nightmare and treated every cut and scrape. She taught you right from wrong and helped you become a capable, caring person. On Mother’s Day, an animal from Heifer International, more than any other gift, will show her that her mothering mattered and that her values live on.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 9, 2012) – At Heifer International we know that going barefoot isn’t just a “fashion misstep” for our project families. Going without shoes can lead to real problems, like injuries, hookworm, podoconiosis and jiggers. A lack of shoes can keep children from going to school. Because of this, Heifer International employees will once again participate in TOMS “One Day Without Shoes” on Tuesday, to bring attention to and show solidarity with the millions of people who live their daily lives of hard work and harsh conditions shoeless.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 4, 2012) – Tucked in with the sweets in your Easter basket this year you may find a gift that won’t bust your diet. A Heifer International gift, presented with an adorable, easy-to-print card, will bring prosperity to a family elsewhere in the world for years to come.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 2, 2012) – All of us are interested in food – especially tasty food! But how many people want to know more about where our food comes from and how it can be improved? Arkansans curious about how to find healthier, more sustainable foods in America can come see successful solutions at a screening of the award-winning film “FRESH” at Philander Smith College on April 10, 2012.
