LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sep. 20, 2012) – Parents and grandparents who love to give Heifer International animal gifts can share the full wonder of that gift with children through a new animated character. Sarah the Goat will show children how a goat, chicken, cow or other animal can bring a family from poverty to self-reliance.

(Sept. 8, 2012) – Heifer International is observing International Literacy Day on September 8th, 2012, stressing that education and literacy are vital to improving the livelihoods of individuals and families everywhere. Heifer’s emphasis on training, education and self-reliance works hand-in-hand with efforts to spread literacy through every corner of the globe.

(Sept. 6, 2012) – Heifer International is excited to announce the launch of a new tool designed to engage classrooms in helping to end hunger and poverty around the world, while fostering a love of reading. Teachers will find it easier than ever to customize the beloved Read to Feed program and share their students’ progress with the whole community.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 28, 2012) - In the wake of Tropical Storm Isaac, Heifer International’s Haiti country team is reporting damage to several Heifer Haiti projects, including loss of animals, loss of and damage to gardens and homes, as well as damage to one breeding center.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 27, 2012) - Tropical Storm Isaac, which dumped torrential rains on Haiti and flattened tent camps housing survivors of the January 2010 earthquake, damaged some Heifer International breeding centers in the country and killed some participants’ livestock, according to Hervil Cherubin, Heifer Haiti country director.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 24, 2012) - Heifer International's Haiti country office closed Friday at noon, ahead of the forecast landfall of Tropical Storm Isaac.

LOS ANGELES, August 14, 2012 – Heifer International will host “Beyond Hunger: A Place at the Table,” on September 21, 2012 at the Montage Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. The event will be co-hosted by Diane Lane, Nina Jacobson, Jane Fonda, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and Tracey Ullman. Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson will be honored for their support of and commitment to Heifer International’s goals. Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit Heifer’s mission to end hunger and poverty and protect the Earth. Following dinner, there will be a performance by two-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat and a live auction. 

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 27, 2012) – Heifer International, the global hunger and poverty  charity, has a fun and fulfilling way for teachers to enliven their class’s reading efforts this school year. Read to Feed is a powerful reading incentive program that also fosters in children a passion for helping others.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 25, 2012) – Curious kids can now explore the powerful hunger-fighting work of Heifer International through the beloved characters Flat Stanley and Flat Stella. Heifer International and Flatter World Inc. are collaborating to create new experiences for children though classroom activities and the Flat Stanley app.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 10, 2012) – Heifer International’s Global Blogging Ambassador, Betty Londergan, is a regional finalist for Volunteer of the Year in the fourth annual CLASSY Awards. Londergan, along with four other finalists, was chosen out of a pool of more than 2,000 nominations.
