Heifer International photo contest highlights global hunger


Heifer International and renowned photographer Rankin joined forces this summer to raise awareness of global poverty by holding a Heifer International Photo Contest for aspiring photographers around the world. Their challenge was to interpret the meaning of hunger through the lens of a camera.

World Architecture Day Celebrations


In celebration of World Architecture Day by World Architecture News, the Alex Foundation,and Heifer International will handout and read Winter in Songming books to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at Crestwood Elementary School in North Little Rock. Winter in Songming follows the life of a young boy as his village in China moves toward self-sufficiency. Heifer International donated the books to the Alex Foundation.

Inspired Teens Raise $22,000 to Fight Hunger

They formed 18000 for 18000, with the goal of raising $1 per child by their May 2014 graduations. The teens, friends since sixth grade, exceeded their goal in 10 months, raising $22,401.83, for two organizations, including Heifer International.

Weekend To-Do List: 8 Events to Check Out

Church Will Hold Pet Blessing and Festival


Grace Luthern Church inTennessee will hold its 12th annual Pet Fest and Blessing Oct. 5. Pets can also be implanted with a microchip for a $20 fee, which will be donated to the Heifer International.

Weekend Family Fun: 10 Festivals, Concerts, Plays and More

Over 25 food trucks will line Main Street and will be joined by beer gardens, wandering street performers, live music and Etsy craft vendors. Plus, at the Heifer International Children’s Plaza, kids can play games and make crafts that teach how the organization helps people around the world, including the Haiti Fishing Game and bird feeder craft.

Bring empty belly Saturday, Oct. 5, to the third annual Food Truck Festival on Main Street, where you’ll find four city blocks of moveable feasts. There will be things to do for the whole family, including shopping at Etsy Little Rock vendors, listening to music, watching street performers, turning the kids over to Heifer International’s Children’s Plaza.

Wools of New Zealand Holding Fall Sale

Wools of New Zealand is running a fall sales event called Brilliant Choices from Oct. 15-Nov. 30. As part of the promotion, Wools of New Zealand will make a donation to Shear Joy, a Heifer International program that provides sheep to needy families in Third World countries.
