Main Street Food Truck Festival in Little Rock planned for Oct. 5

Help raise funds during the 33rd annual CROP Hunger Walk in Bay City

Last year, 115 people hit the sidewalks in Bay City to raise more than $10,000 for the 32nd annual CROP Hunger Walk, sponsored by Church World Service and area churches. This year, organizers hope to raise even more money and see 150 people participate in the event, with proceeds going to Bay County Food Pantry Network, with the remaining going to organizations such as Church World Services, CARE, Heifer International, Catholic Relief Services and American Joint Jewish Distribution, to name a few.

Ecuadorian Agro-Ecology Field Study Tour

Carolyn Goettsch of Edgemont recently toured Ecuador with a group of California volunteers for Heifer International. Working with farmers in Ecuador since 1954, Heifer volunteers conducted an agro-ecology field study of Heifer’s community development of small scale rural Ecuadorian farmers.

Gicumbi Co-Operative Transforms Lives of Rural Dairy Farmers

It all started in 2000 when Heifer Project International, a local NGO, donated over 300 Friesian cows to poor households in Gicumbi District in Northern Province. So overtime milk production increased, but there was no market. This prompted 330 dairy farmers in the district to form an association to market their milk as a group, giving birth to IRKIB Co-operative Society.
