Women Get Stuff Done, Like Building Roads By Hand When Disaster Strikes

Heifer projects focus heavily on women, and the following stories of strength and resilience from women in Nepal who are recovering after the disastrous 7.8-magnitude earthquake in 2015 demonstrate exactly why women are the key to our mission.

Watch Annie Bergman, Heifer Global Communications Director, reflect on what she saw in Nepal a year after the earthquake, including the story of a group of women who came together to do whatever it took to take care of their community, even when that meant building a road in the mountains by hand.

There's a lot more to this story–head over to the newest edition of World Ark magazine to get the full details and beautiful photography of the Heifer project participants who are putting the pieces back together stronger than before.
