Heifer Vietnam and 51 other international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) received certificates for their remarkable contributions to poverty alleviation and sustainable development throughout the year at a ceremony on December 16, 2012, in Hanoi.

The annual event, Thanks from Vietnam, is co-organized by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and Vietnam Television and aims to recognize the works of international organizations and donors.

Chairman Vu Xuan Hong said INGOs have helped increase donations for the country and strengthened friendships between Vietnam and people of the world, as well as the donor community.

Since 1991, Vietnam has had relationships with 900 INGOs, operating in 63 provinces across the country, working in various fields from socioeconomic development and recovery after the war to climate change and natural disaster rescue. Total donations of more than $3 billion have been received so far, with an average disbursement rate of $300 million per year.
