Location: Manila, Philippines
When did you start working for Heifer? September 2008
What attracted you to work for Heifer? I was looking for a job that could provide a living, food and housing in the hasty economics of Manila. I am very lucky to work for Heifer, which not only provides for my needs, but allows me to be an instrument to facilitate and provide food, housing and better livelihoods for poor communities in the Philippines. What a job!
What has been the most memorable experience you have had while working for Heifer? Everything is memorable, fun and interesting: biogas set-up and operation, feed mill operations, vermiculture, artificial insemination, Material Recovery Facility, livestock counting and many more. What a noble job for an accountant to validate the accounting transaction in the actual set-up, if transactions are in the good hands of poor families.
My education includes: I am a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines.
My hobbies include: I like to travel if my budget permits it.
My family consists of: I have two loving parents, three brothers, four nieces and one nephew. I thank God for the inspiration of family, friends and co-workers who help me live a life with purpose.
Something about me that you might not know: I am proud to be a Mary of Sorrows (Los Dolores) devotee. The feast day is September 15, but there are special processions and masses each year on the Friday before Good Friday, the final Friday of Lent. If I don't have vacation leave, my calendar is automatically marked to remind me of the salary deduction for my time away from work.
What is the best thing about working at Heifer Philippines? The very best thing about Heifer is the mission and vision to end world hunger while caring for the Earth! Wow! What a mission. Working for such a mission is wonderful and the personal application is very satisfying. It makes me pause to think about how I am helping others every day.
